Q: How do I get a Kansas Library eCard?

The State Library of Kansas offers a variety of digital resources, and most are accessible to anyone located in the state or with a Johnson County Library card. The Kansas Library eCard provides access to all Kansas residents and eligible individuals, even if you travel outside of the state, and it is required in order to login to some services such as the State Library's eBook and eAudiobook collections.

The Kansas Library eCard is:

  • available to any Kansas resident (includes students, faculty, employees, and military in Kansas)
  • free of charge
  • valid for 3 years
  • renewable

To get started:

Visit any Johnson County Library location or contact us to request registration or renewal of your Kansas Library eCard. You must provide verification of Kansas residency, enrollment or employment.

The State Library of Kansas will automatically generate a 6-digit eCard number for you with your birthdate as your PIN: MMDDYYYY. (This is separate from your Johnson County Library card.) If you forget your eCard number, contact us.

Explore the digital collection:

Visit the State Library of Kansas overview of resources for Kansans for the most complete and current list of digital offerings in its collection. Depending on the resource, use your Kansas Library eCard and PIN to login directly to the resource or first login to the State Library's website to access resources organized by audience age and by topic.
