LinkedIn Learning through Johnson County Library provides access to the same robust course offerings available to individual LinkedIn customers, but library access is made possible through a different pathway that requires a Library card instead of a user's LinkedIn profile. To protect library patron privacy, LinkedIn does not capture any patron's personally identifiable information.
This has some ripple effects, such as:
- Learning history and saved courses are tied to your specific Library card number and cannot be transferred to a new number if you replace your card.
- Each course's downloadable certificate of completion will not include your name. Be aware that some organizations who approve continuing education units (CEUs) require first and last names on certificates.
- Library access to LinkedIn Learning cannot connect to any individual's account on the LinkedIn social network, so learning achievements will not automatically appear on your LinkedIn profile.
Library patrons can still promote their learning achievements on LinkedIn and elsewhere in a variety of ways.
- Use the Share option within a course to get a course link that can be used in a LinkedIn post and beyond.
- Download the course certificate of completion, then add your name on your own.
- From within LinkedIn, manually manage licenses and certifications on your profile. Refer to the course's certificate for the course name, issuing organization (LinkedIn) and certificate/credential ID.
