Q: How do I get a Kansas State Library ecard and what are the benefits of having one?

There are some databases available through the Kansas State Library which are not available through Johnson County Library. Some of them are listed below:

Britannica – Academic: A great resource for geographic research!

·         Can search for images/videos/websites/primary sources—not just articles and books

·         Includes a World Atlas/can compare countries

·         You can save research

·         Includes current events

eBook Collection (old NetLibrary account, new books no longer being added)

·         Books of various levels/fiction/non-fiction

Digital Book Access Links

Britannica E-STAX - nonfiction youth ebooks

·         Can search for books, and details about books are given, such as reading (grade) level, but can’t narrow search by those parameters

Digital Book eLending for setup details for Cloud Library, Enki, Freading, and Total Boox.

·         Cloud library—log in with KS Library cardLots of categories to narrow searches! Can read in browser if you don’t have a device to download the app onto. Takes a little bit to load each page…but not unbearable.

·         Enki-can log in with KS Library card info and checkout books/ you can read online or download

·         Total Boox—have to use app to download books/can make shelves of books
