Q: I can't link another library card to my Johnson County Library username in the catalog.

I get the error, "The account is already linked to another user."

You can link your Johnson County Library/Olathe Public Library card, Kansas City Public Library card, and Mid-Continent Public Library cards to one username in the catalog!

If you're seeing the error, "The account is already linked to another user, you probably already registered your library card(s) in one of those catalogs.

While you can link multiple library cards to a single BiblioCommons username/account, you can't link multiple BiblioCommons usernames/accounts together. Not to worry! If you unregister all but one username, the library card(s) won't be associated with a catalog username anymore, so they can be linked to the username that remains.

First: Choose which account you want to keep. This will be your username and primary account when you link the other cards.

Heads up! All content you've created (Shelves, Lists, etc.) with a particular username will be deleted when that username is unregistered. You may want to replicate those things in the other catalog before they are deleted.

Next: Contact us to let us know which account you want to unregister, or if you prefer you can contact Kansas City Public Library or Mid-Continent Public Library directly to unregister the other username associated with that library card number.

Then follow these steps:

  1. Log into your active catalog account.
  2. Go to My Settings.
  3. Select Manage Cards.
  4. Select Link a library card.
  5. Enter your other library card information and Link the Card to confirm!
